California Caregiver Movement

Caring for California’s Caregivers

A Movement Built on Experience, Advocacy, and Compassion.

OUR STORY

Caring for the caregivers of California.

California Caregiver Movement was founded on a simple but urgent
truth: caregivers are essential. However, they are often underpaid,
underrepresented, and invisible. That is why this organization exists.

This organization is led by Kim, Mary, and Cyndie, three women united by decades of hands-on experience in caregiving, senior living operations, home care leadership, and wellness advocacy.

Together, they have witnessed firsthand the sacrifices caregivers make every day — and they are building a movement to change that reality.

Our Mission

California Caregiver Movement is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and uplifting caregivers across California.

We advocate for dignity, financial stability, and recognition for the essential workers who dedicate their lives to caring for others. Furthermore, we provide direct mergency assistance to caregivers facing financial hardship. Because when caregivers are stable, everyone benefits.

Our Vision

Our vision is a California where caregivers are financially stable and professionally respected. In addition, we believe they should be fully supported — not struggling in silence. Therefore, everything we do is built around this goal.

Kimberly Geis

Co - Founder

Kimberly Geis is the founder of A Partner in Caring, Inc. a licensed home care agency and Hearts That Matter Assisted Living. Kimberly has over 30 years of experience in caregiving and senior support. Her journey began caring for her own grandmothers. That experience inspired her lifelong commitment to compassionate, personalized in-home care.

She first founded Hearts That Matter, Inc. Later, she launched A Partner in Caring to meet evolving licensing standards. This new agency offers concierge-level care tailored to each client’s needs.

Mary

Co - Founder

Mary West’s journey in home care began as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Home Health Aide, where she learned that caregiving extends far beyond clinical skills to encompass compassion, dignity, and meaningful human connection.

Through years of hands-on experience, Mary supported individuals and families during their most vulnerable moments. As a result, she developed a deep commitment to preserving independence and improving quality of life. Her transition into a Client Care Specialist role expanded her impact. In this role, she coordinated care and supported caregivers. She also bridged communication between clients, families, and healthcare providers.

Inspired to share her knowledge and advocate for the profession, Mary became a caregiver educator and advocate dedicated to empowering caregivers through education, mentorship, and support. Today, she champions efforts to elevate the status of caregivers, improve access to quality care, influence policy, and build resources through the California Caregiver Movement.

Mary believes caregiving is both an art and a calling. Therefore, she works to ensure caregivers receive the recognition, respect, and training they deserve. Her goal is to inspire the next generation of compassionate care professionals.

Cyndi Berardino

Co - Founder

I’m Cyndi, a Northern California health educator. My path into this work began with a simple question: how do we care for our health in a way that supports not just today, but the years ahead?

That question led me to nutrition, lifestyle education, and a deeper connection to the outdoors, not as an escape, but as a reminder that health is built through rhythms, habits, and small choices repeated over time.

Today, I help midlife adults better understand long-term health through practical, nature-inspired education. My work focuses on sustainable habits that support energy, resilience, and well-being without relying on extremes or all-or-nothing thinking.

Through community workshops, speaking, and personalized support, I aim to make health feel more approachable, more meaningful, and more connected to everyday life. Her background includes Nutrition Coaching certification through Precision Nutrition. She is also certified in Functional Nutrition through the Functional Medicine Academy.

I believe people deserve health guidance that feels clear, grounded, and realistic, and that lasting change often begins with understanding the bigger picture.
